I made this piece in the first days of the protest. My anxiety was on 💯 , and I didn’t know what to feel. I could hear the protesters screams and pleas from my window. I could hear glass bottles thrown at cop cars. I could hear a helicopter flying low enough to make themselves known. I could still hear the ambulance sirens blasting nonstop as COVID continues massacring black and brown bodies. I felt helpless, so I made this.
I made this before my first panic attack. I made this before my rant (FUCK PRATT)
I do not own this piece. It was a reaction to the world around me. And I was and still currently exhausted and tired.
I am tired of seeing black and brown bodies killed on local news; these are literally snuff films. I’m tired of Queer spaces claiming to be safe unless your black and trans. I’m tired of the erasure black trans people and the whitewashing of queer history. I’m tired of learning black history and black art history secondary as if our history isn’t American History. I’m tired of seeing cis heterosexual black men demanding freedom while placing black women and the black queer community in bondage. I’m tired of seeing white Jesus when his name was Yashua, and the man may not have been black but definitely was a man of color. I’m tired of the black churches CONDITIONAL love, as those who adopt queer expression and gender nonconformity are excommunicated. I’m tired of a sect of people who LOVE black booty, dick, and pussy yet don’t see the value in black life. I’m tired of being told to wait, or man up or how to feel. I’m tired of code-switching! That shit is exhausting. Lastly, I’m tired of being tired.
This piece doesn’t encapsulate all these feeling, but it’s something to get off my chest. ♥️
